Young people are demanding strong action to protect our planet from overconsumption, climate change and pollution. 80% of young people say they are concerned about protecting the environment, yet still our political and business leaders promote destructive policies, endangering our future and harming the poorest people in the world. ...The solutions to the environmental crisis exist. By conserving our ecosystems, shifting to green energy and sustainable farming, and investing in public transport and smart energy policies, we can build a green, prosperous society and create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the process. Despite the appeals from the world's poorest nations and the warnings of scientists, rich world political leaders still promote reckless overconsumption and unchecked corporate greed -putting profit before people and the planet. Young Friends of the Earth -a worldwide network in dozens of countries- believes that young people must act together so our voices are not drowned out by special interests who profit from the status quo. Be part of the solution, and join the Rally For The Planet on Thursday, March 23rd in Dublin City. This is our only home. Let's show the establishment that we're willing to fight for it! Ecosoc is inviting all of its members and anyone else to join this event, there will be people mostly students for all over the country at the event and we will be organising transport up from Galway that morning. If you're interested in going up please email: ecosoc@socs.nuigalway.ie
