NUIG Societies won four awards at the recent BICS National Society Awards. Best Society Individual went to Peter Mannion auditor of the Law Society which also won the most improved Society Award. Best website went to choral Society and the new Award for Best Civic Contribution went to Voluntary Services Abroad for the work they do fundraising and sending fifth year medical students to the developing world. NUIG societies have had a spactacular year hosting numerous major events and significantly contributing to campus life. This year societies volunteered the equivelant number of hours as 78 full time workers and in the last six years have raised over one and a quarter million euro for charity.
