On Monday the 28th of September, the first day of the Societies Week in NUIG started off with the Chalk Drawing event by the Art Society. It took place outside the library (next to the yellow thing).
They gave students the opportunity to draw graffiti on the paving slabs, the only chance during the whole year that students could deface campus property and get away with it! The idea was a huge success as everyone that saw it wanted to take part in the event which took place between 10: 00am to 5:00pm.
Even other societies took part in the event by advertising themselves on the slabs which showed unity toward other societies which is what the Art Society would love to do more of this year.
The event was a charity event in aid of Merlin Park hospital Psychiatric ward to help fund there art classes which for its patients are there only outlet on a day to day basis. The charity proved excellent and the Art Society would like to thankl everyone who took part as they helped collect over 140 euro from the one day event which is going for a very worthy cause.
