Women have been involved in music-making since the dawn of time, albeit often under adverse conditions. But there has been very little attention paid to women's roles in music until the latter part of the twentieth century. Today women are making music, and making a living in music across every genre, from rock to folk and everything in between.
Women in music are strong, brave, hard working and independent. As Etta James once said, "Women in this business have to take care of themselves, make their own living, and be their own boss. I'm just happy that women are where they are today, where they can say, 'No man, that ain't what I want!"
Well THIS is what we want:
Our mission is to specifically showcase the wealth of talent that women in music, from folk to rock and all things in between, have to share with the world.
