Charity donation
€10,000 Donated
On Monday 30th April, An Cumann Staire donated a sum of €10,000 to charity. The money was generated from the proceeds of tickets sold for the NUI Galway Arts Ball. Raffle tickets were also sold on the night to raise money. The Arts Ball is the largest ball of its kind in Ireland and had 1,500 student in attendance on February 15th 2012.
The money was donated to two local Charities: the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the William Syndrome Association of Ireland. Each charity receiving €5,000 each.
Arts Ball Organisers John Devlin & Clíona Ní Chatháin were both on hand to present the cheques, which were the fruit of the hard they had put in from the summer in their efforts in organising the Arts Ball 2012. Cumann Staire Old-Timer Duibhir was also present to take photgraphs, he had also worked as a liason between WSAI and CS, already having ties with the organisation.
