Suas is a youth and education focused organisation which aims to address educational disadvantage in Ireland and in the developing world. Suas is a registered charity. We are a secular society and we are not affiliated with any political party.
Mentoring Program: this year, we are focusing on Literacy Support with our partner schools in Galway City. Becoming a mentor involves a commitment of 1 hour paired reading per week over 8 weeks in Semester 1. Mentors from Semester 1 may continue in Semester 2 if they wish. Applications are made online at http://suas.ie/applymentoring.html . The program is limited to 25 places, so if you want to be involved get cracking now if you want to be a mentor in Semester 2! Global Issues Course: the course runs over 6 weeks and takes place on the NUIG campus. Topics covered include Health, Debt, Trade, Equality, the Environment, Gender, Human Rights, HIV, Conflict and Trade. This course is kindly subsidised by Irish Aid - all we ask of students is a contribution of €20. The course begins on January 23rd. Spaces are limited to 35.
