Cumann de Barra is the NUI Galway branch of Ógra Fianna Fáil, the largest political organisation for young people in the country. It is the largest and most active political society on campus and is very active within both Ógra Fianna Fáil and the wider Fianna Fáil party. We regularly have guest speakers address our meetings, attend politcal events including Ard Fheiseanna, and have social outings. Gobnait O Connell
Cumann De Barra is the first Cumann Nationally to have ever won the Gobnait O Connell award for Best Cumann 3 times ever.
The Gobnait takes into account membership, membership participation, media participation and events to decide which of the Ogra Fianna Fail is the BEST in the country.
Cumann De Barra has broken records with this award before having been the first Cumann to win it 2 years in a row.
The Society has gone from strength to strength over the past number of years having incresaed membership 100% and active membership 400%.
Keith Henry Chairmen said; " I was delighted to accept, along with the members, the Gobnait. It is a great recognition of the tremendous work the Society and its committee does.
