The Cumann Staire aims to support and enhance the student life of all its members at both undergrad and postgrad levels. We organise many social and academic events thoughout the year and need the support of our members through their participation to guarantee our continued success. For new graduate students of Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh the Cumann Staire offers a warm embrace and a Céad míle fáilte! For those who are moving from an undergrad to a postgrad here we encourage participation in our well known organisation. Here are some of the annual events we are known for:
The BIGGEST ball in Connacht
Dé Céadaoin 16ú Feabhra the most important formal dress ball of Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh will again redefine what such an event is about. In 2006 we enlarged the Arts Bál to be by far the biggest ball, moved it to a Wednesday to make a two day mini fastival of craic soaked events, launched the first online booking system for a university event, introduced wristbands as part of new security measures and caused scenes of wild desperation as everyone tried to get a ticket. Arts Bál 2009 was the biggest so far and the first ball of NUIG to feature multi-venue musical entertainment following the banquet. Arts Bál 2010 introduced an even bigger format with 1600 attending; meaning there was a slight increase in dinner tickets and enough Afters ticéid to meet the massive demand. Last year also saw the introduction of a limited number of the new Ór type of ticéad for those who want an even classier experience of dining in the VIP room with top-table main courses and wine.
Keep an eye here for the latest updates on Arts Bál 2011.
Sign-up on the Arts Bál 2011 Facebook Event page.
Our online queue booking system for dinner tickets will go live here
and the booked ticéid must be collected, and paid for, in Áras na Mac Léinn.
A maximum of two tics can be booked per ID and Afters tics can be bought along with them without booking.
(Bring your Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh ID and a printed copy of your booking form.)
Afters ticéid on their own can be bought without booking later that day.
Playing at Arts Bál 2011: The UK's biggest alternative DJ collective PROPAGANDA; the hard rockin Hot Fuss; a manic Trad Soc Céilí; and other music acts yet to be announced => Arts Ball 2011 is going to be the biggest and best night of entertainment in NUI's year.
Bringing the madness to a whole new level, this year's Afterparty sees Monroe's Live transformed into what Duffy's Circus would look like if someone fed them a bag of yokes.. horses optional.
