Hi Everyone and welcome to this weeks What's Happening Guide. As its a bank holiday weekend I hope you all get a chance to put your feet up and relax because the societies have a week full of entertainmnet lined up for you with lots of opportunities to celebrate Halloween: parties, movies, murder mystery, guest speakers and much more so do check it all out and have fun. After all the excitement of the Conferring (Congrats to all of you who graduated) we are settling down to normal in Áras na Mac Léinn this week and gearing up for what promises to be an event packed Music Week (Nov 16th - 19th)

A very worthwhile and thought-provoking series of seminars covering topics such as Development, Human Rights Activism, Child Labour and Asylum Seeking on every Tuesday from 6-8pm for 6 weeks. No previous knowledge necessary! Meet experts in the field for an informative and interactive discussion with open-minded people. At the end of the course you will be issued a certificate endorsed by Irish Aid. The 6 week course is just €20. Sign up at www.suas.ie or turn up on the night.

Every week we have some of the best jugglers around giving workshops in their chosen area of expertise, so come along if you want to learn how to swing Poi, twirl Staffs, juggle Clubs and Balls, spin Diablos, roll Contact Balls, flip Hats and do .... well cool stuff with Devil Sticks! I think you get the idea! People of ALL skill levels welcome from complete beginner to advanced. If you don't want to participate in the workshop come along anyway to use our equipment and as always feel free to ask anyone you want to teach you anything you want!!

Annual Grand Meeting for Muslim Youth Society 2009
In conjunction with Quiz Soc, we are going to do some "In the Field" photography. Quiz Soc is having their Murder Mystery event and we are going to do some photography for it. The theme is 1920s so they highly encourage people to come in character and costume. Acting Rehearsals for the Principle Cast
This is a vital meeting in planning our expeditions of conquest to Turkey (2nd week of March 2010), Germany (22nd-24th of January 2010) and Derry (20th-22nd of November 2009). Places are limited and preference will be given to active members. If you want to get more involved fear not, there will be ample opportunities.
Preparation workshop for the UCD IV. Will likely start with a debate. Main body of the workshop will be discussion of likely motions, brief run-through of big international news stories etc. Ideally, this workshop will involve the creation of a kind of “My First Casefile” for use by fresher teams at UCD.
If you are interested in learning how to sew or want to meet other sewers join the new group hoping to establish a sewing society for their second get together.
This week we will be continuing our look at 1 Timothy. All are welcomed.

The Human Rights Society have invited Dr. Kathleen Cavanagh from the Irish Centre of Human Rights to speak about the situation in Iraq. She will pay special attention to torture, detention and the contentious issue of the hiring of private contractors to carry out assassinations by the CIA.
Dr. Kathleen Cavanagh is currently a lecturer of International Law in the Irish Centre for Human Rights. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Conneticut, USA, LL.M (Distinction) from the Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland (1998), and a PhD in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1997). Her publications and current research agenda, academic interests and specialisations include: the study of nationalism, ethnic conflict, political violence, applicable human rights laws in entrenched states of emergency and the laws of belligerent occupation.

In a monstrous collaboration between more than 15 societies, starting at 8pm in the College Bar, with buses from 10pm until 10.30pm bringing you to the final destination for fun - Fancy Dress and prizes for the best dressed.
