With Gary Oldman as Smiley and an amazing cast of Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, and Toby Jones also in tow, this is one not to miss!
With the Trinity inter-varsity competition just around the corner, workshops are becoming all the more important for last-minute POI sharpening, fear killing and thing learning. This week, as always, Lit and Deb will help to shape the young minds of debaters university-wide and aid them in figuring out how to stand up and make a cracking speech whether in-house on Thursdays in the Kirwan or in the wider world of debater-land at national and international competitions. Those of you who aren't quite up to that yet can always feel free to judge and learn the tricks of the trade that way. In any case, rest assured that the society is always doing its best to provide you with a relaxed atmosphere in which to battle the public speaking gremlins. Hope to see you all there.

Forget vampires, trolls are where it's really at. Your student cinema concludes the week in style on Thursday at 7 in Aras Ui Chathail with Andre Ovredal's Norwegian horror!
This week Lit and Deb debates the position of the rights of animals in relation to those of man. The motion before the house is 'That This House Believes It Is Morally Acceptable to Experiment on Animals for Human Purposes'. Vivisection and animal testing have been and continue to be contentious ethical issues due to the implication of the belief in the subordinate value of other living beings despite the rational that humans have to create superior environments for those lower down the food chain, a privilege which the aforementioned beings lack. The benefits of this testing are infinite, however, ranging from the medicinal to the cosmetic, which leads to a conflict of interest. Four guest speakers will be in attendance on the night though, after their speeches, the debate will be opened to insights and contributions from the floor. Hope to see you all there.
We're quite not sure what movie we'll be showing yet, but come along early for the free pizza anyway!
